This week in Guns & Patriots...
Neil W. McCabe, Editor

Dear Guns & Patriots readers,

Last night, I had a wonderful time with the St. Gabriel Possenti Society, which is led by John M. Snyder, the Gun Dean, Washington's senior advocate for gun rights. Snyder founded the society as a vehicle to advocate for the Vatican to name St. Gabriel the patron saint of handguns because the young seminarian once used a pistol to rescue peasants from robbers.

At the event last night, a group of us attended Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral to mark the 150th anniversary of the saint's death, and then met up at a local restaurant to applaud the naming of gun rights champion Sen. Michael O. Johanns (R.-Neb.) as the society's first Man of the Year.

This week our sponsor is the Pimsleur Approach, which has developed a natural way to learn foreign languages. You just pop the CDs in the computer and start.

Also, this week, we welcome a new contributor, Jack Murphy. Murphy is a former Army Ranger and Special Forces soldier, and the author of "Reflexive Fire" and the founder of SOFREP.com. In his first article for us, Murphy compares the counter-insurgency in the last days of Rhodesia and the today's COIN.

Another partnership we are very happy with is the NRA that allows us to offer you the $35 annual membership for $25, along with discounts on Junior and Life memberships. Click here.

The Go website this week is the Colt Firearms Collection at The Museum of Connecticut History, which features the actual "Rampant Colt" statue from the original factory in Hartford, as well as priceless photographs and firearms.

The video this week, is our great friend, Emily Miller, who joined "Fox and Friends" to talk about rising gun sales, especially to women.

Below we have a great roster of articles.

Enjoy,

Neil and Brian speak to gun rights advocate Mike Hammond, who is counsel for Gun Owners of America and former General Counsel for the Senate Steering Committee. Hammond talks about the status of expanding gun rights both of Capitol Hill and in the states. Also, Neil and Brian review the heroes highlighted in this week’s Medal of Honor Roll Call, which is put together each week by historian Robert J. Laplander... Read More

MOGADISHU, Somalia -- There are few success stories here in this tortured country on the eastern coast of Africa. For nearly two decades, this drought-ravaged land and the long-suffering Somali people have been "off the radar" for most Americans... Read More

I hope this month has caused you to want to look beyond the headlines and see that there are those in history who did amazing things — but for which the media did not take a shine to, for whatever reason. Dig deep and explore history!... Read More

The Pistolet Makarova, or Makarov, was a Cold War pistol designed in the 1950s for the Soviet Union. Nikolai Makarov, a Russian, developed the medium-powered handgun as a replacement for the aging Nagant revolver and a Tokarev pistol... Read More

Knowing LaGuardia was the destination, the agent did not mention "you had better checkout New York law, otherwise you risk losing your gun, being placed under arrest at the ticket counter, and thrown into jail, which, in addition to spending a few days in jail, will cost you thousands of dollars in penalties, legal fees, fines and additional travel expenses..." I had the chance to test fire Kimber's new Advanced Tactical sniper rifle. In wringing out this new rifle, as well as Leupold's Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M1 scope, I once again touched base with some "great minds" in the police sniper field. Most of these active shooters and trainers lamented their need to "make do" with the sniper ammunition currently available. Even today, the ideal police sniper load escapes us... Read More

Demographically, of course, feminism is the culprit. Not only has it been directly responsible for the lack of progeny in America and the West in general, but it is primarily responsible for women leaving the home and doing whatever, most of which the members of the feminist community, forced to do otherwise, don't seem to like; in fact, they are an angry lot, very angry... PATROL BASE MEHRAJ, Helmand province, Afghanistan — Every drop of sweat from their foreheads cools their faces as Marines patrol through the Afghan heat. Every cautious step through the cratered terrain and dusty roads is a step closer to completing the mission. Every hour spent standing watch brings them closer to the sweet smell of home-cooked meals or catching the big game on a Monday night...Read More

"We were really glad to see the boys show up after disappearing for those few days. They seemed happy to be back too. No one told us where they went. They wouldn't say anything either, not even to me." Sky sipped his Prop-Blast and held the glass up to the dim light and looked at it. "Brings back lots of memories."... Read More
