Evangelist says atheist's issues are moral'Reason why anyone would be ignorant is clear.'
|
World-famous atheist Richard Dawkins, author of "The God Delusion," made headlines just days ago when he said he is an agnostic, not an atheist, because he can't be 100-percent certain God exists.
The comments came while Dawkins was debating Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, at the United Kingdom's University of Oxford on the origins of nature.
Dawkins said he has no way of disproving God's existence. But, according to a Christian Post report, he said he's at 6.9 on a scale of 7 regarding his belief that God does not exist.
Dawkins should read Ray Comfort's newest book, "Hitler, God, and the Bible."
On that scale, a person at 1 says "I know God exists" while someone at 7 says "I know God doesn't exist."
Evangelist and author Ray Comfort contends that Dawkins wasn't really thinking when he made the statements.
"Richard Dawkins is ignorant when it comes to the existence of God. However, it's a willful ignorance. He has in the past stated that he believes that nothing created everything, which is a scientific impossibility. It's not only impossible, it's crazy to believe that. That's why the Bible uses the word 'fool' to describe someone who says that God doesn't exist," Comfort said.
Comfort's new book "Hitler, God, and the Bible" and its accompanying movie "180" have been energizing pro-life activists across the nation with a simple, truthful approach to the issue.
He said, "Professing atheists will often slip into pleading ignorance, but that plea doesn't solve their case, because they just move from being a 'fool' to being an 'ignoramus.'
"The word 'ignoramus' is a legal term derived from a Latin word meaning 'we do not know,'" Comfort continued. "An ignoramus is like a man who looks at a building and says that he 'doesn't know' if a builder exists. Obviously, the building is proof that there was a builder, because buildings don't build themselves.
"The reason why anyone would be that ignorant is clear. It's not a case of a lack of evidence. The problem with Professor Dawkins isn't intellectual, but moral. He doesn't want to admit that God exists, because if he does, he's admitting that he's morally responsible to Him," he said.
Comfort, co-host with actor Kirk Cameron of the popular TV series "The Way of the Master," conducted video interviews as part of his research for the Hitler book.
After the interviews, he realized he had a powerful statement for the issue of life, since those he interviewed were horrified when learned what Hitler really wanted and did. He applied the same perspective – revealing the facts about abortion – and got essentially the same result.

His book is the first of a series of titles about cultural and political icons. The next, scheduled for later this year, is called "The Beatles, God and the Bible."
"Hitler, God and the Bible" is now available, autographed by Comfort and packaged with "180" video at a special low price exclusively at the WND Superstore.
Learn more about the 180 DVD produced by Ray Comfort:
Comfort, who is Jewish, had been working on research for his next book, "Hitler, God and the Bible, coming in February from WND Books.
He was surprised to discover there are many who simply don't recognize Hitler and cannot say just exactly what it is he did.
The resulting intense discussions about societal attitudes about life and death – Comfort opens his project with 14 people who do not know the identity of Hitler – lead naturally to a discussion of abortion, which Comfort describes as a horror worse in numbers than the Holocaust.
Comfort suggests he was shocked by so many students who were ignorant of such a dark period in human history.
Cameron's endorsement of the "180" project was joined by Mark Hall, lead singer of "Casting Crowns," who said the movie "totally rocked my world."
It is in an effort to educate that young generation, officials said, that the 200,000 videos will be distributed free on 100 top U.S. college campuses.
Comfort reports he was half through work on a video to go with his Hitler book when he noticed the "180" that people were doing when confronted by the truth.
Reactions have been flooding in from around the country and the world.
"I watched this today – three times," wrote Sonya Shirk. "Each time I was overwhelmed with the power of truth. I have shared this everywhere I can think of. I can't begin to tell you how this video has changed my perspective."
Added another poignantly, and to the point: "Your film just led a 17-year-old girl away from abortion."
Comfort said one church placed an order for 16,000 copies. And, even though the initial order for "180" was 200,000 copies, supplies are short already and new orders for hundreds of thousands of additional copies of the DVD are set.
"Keep in mind that this isn't a one-minute humorous clip that doesn't bite into your day. This is a commitment of 33 minutes of intense film, giving the viewer a rollercoaster ride of emotions," he said.
Wrote one viewer, "It's so powerful. And although I have thought about abortion and Hitler on a passing note, this really made me think and did change my mind about abortion. I am not Christian or even know if God exists but this really does make you think. Thank you, it could be life-changing."
The book project will expose Hitler's theology and abuse of religion as a means to seize political power and ultimately instigate World War II and genocide. It mines the depths of Hitler's beliefs and convincingly argues that without Hitler's misuse of Christianity, the Third Reich would not have had its terrible rise, resulting in the deaths of millions.
