Dear Jack,

While grassroots activists champion Wisconsin's public-sector Right to Work law in the court of opinion amid Big Labor's plot to recall Governor Scott Walker...

....your National Right to Work Foundation continues to defend the reforms in courts of law from groundless legal attacks by union lawyers.

Earlier this month, with free legal assistance from Foundation staff attorneys, a Wisconsin public school teacher filed an amicus brief in state court supporting Governor Walker's public sector union reform bill.

This latest lawsuit in state court follows on the heels of ongoing federal lawsuits brought by other Wisconsin union bosses to dismantle the law.

You see, the union bosses are desperately throwing out as many legal challenges and bogus arguments as they can hoping that one will eventually stick and Big Labor can go back to forcing public employees to pay union dues or be fired.

But your Foundation has been there every step of the way providing aid to teachers and other civil servants who support the government-sector Right to Work law.

In the state court brief filed with the help of Foundation attorneys, veteran Wisconsin educator Eli Grajkowski asks the judge to deny the unions' request to suspend the law.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Davenport v. WEA, won by Foundation staff attorneys, that "unions have no constitutional entitlement to the fees of nonmember employees."

Only a union lawyer would argue that freedom of association -- the right of individuals to voluntarily come together to express their opinions and petition the government -- gives union bosses forced-dues and monopoly bargaining powers!

The claim is absurd on its face, of course.

Moreover, unlike the law at issue in Davenport, Governor Walker's bill requires union bosses to collect ALL their own dues, making it not only better policy, but less vulnerable to legal attack.

Big Labor hopes that a legal win in Wisconsin will arm union lawyers across the country in challenges against all 23 state Right to Work laws.

That's why it's absolutely vital that Foundation attorneys defend the law with full force.

Please, chip in with a tax-deductible contribution of $10 or more today to support our strategic litigation programs, including defending Wisconsin's reforms and Indiana's popular new Right to Work law from spurious legal assaults.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. The Foundation relies completely on voluntary contributions from its supporters to provide free legal aid.
