Always Bring a Gun To A Knife Fight "In my view...the Fourteenth Amendment does not incorporate the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for purposes of private self-defense." - Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer Staunch anti-gun advocate Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer probably wished he had a gun on February 9th. Breyer, his wife, and some guests were robbed by a machete-wielding maniac at their vacation home in the St.Kitts/Nevis. The intruder fled the scene, stealing about $1,000. Thankfully, no one was hurt. It is plain to see that the police cannot always be around when you need them or get there soon enough when called, even if you're a Supreme Court justice. After Justice Breyer was rendered utterly defenseless against the armed assailant, we can only hope the jurist will re-examine his core beliefs about the individual right to keep and bear arms at places other than their primary residence. In both the Heller and McDonald cases, Justice Breyer has voted against recognizing that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. It's ironic that a Supreme Court justice who voted to deny law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves is finding out first hand why that right is so important. Kevin Collins of the Western Center for Journalism explains, ."..Despite having some of the toughest and most draconian gun control laws in the Western Hemisphere since 2008, St. Kitts/Nevis has been on The State Department's travel advisory list warning Americans who must go there not to walk alone at night." If this demonstrates anything to Justice Breyer, it is that crime does not happen just at someone's primary residence, and criminals do not make appointments, giving someone time to unlock and assemble and load a firearm. You must be able to protect yourself, even on vacation outside of your home state, at a moment's notice.

When Justice Breyer dissented in the Heller case, he expressed concerns about keeping loaded firearms in the home for personal protection.
