Dear Mr. Hotchkiss:
Thank you for contacting me regarding S.504, the National Right-to-Work Act. I appreciate hearing your views on this important subject.
As you may know, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and the Railway Labor Act (RLA) govern labor-management relations in the workplace. The proposed National Right-to-Work Act would repeal provisions in both the NLRA and RLA that require workers to join a union and pay dues as a requisite for employment. I firmly believe workers should be free to refrain from union activity if they choose, and for this reason I am a cosponsor of S.504. Throughout my career in Congress, I have consistently supported legislation to protect the workplace rights of individuals. Please know that I will keep your views in mind should this legislation be considered by the full Senate.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future on this matter or any other issue of interest.
Sincerely,
John McCain
United States Senator
JM/gk
