Governor Who Took On Unions May Face a Closely Watched Recall Election

JP-WISCONSIN-articleInline

Thousands of volunteers have raced to collect signatures near busy intersections and malls all over Wisconsin, at makeshift “drive-through” operations in parking lots, during Green Bay Packers viewing parties and New Year’s Eve pub crawls, and even at a fold-up table inside Milwaukee’s airport just off Concourse C.

By a state deadline on Tuesday, these volunteers, many of them Democrats and union supporters, say they will submit at least 720,000 names on petitions to recall Gov. Scott Walker, the Republican who curtailed collective bargaining rights for public workers, leading to a face-off in this state.

Only two governors in the nation’s history have lost their jobs in recalls, but Mr. Walker himself acknowledges that, presuming there are no major flaws in the petitions, a recall election appears likely. That puts his removal, which would have a vote in late spring or early summer, within the realm of possibility.

Politicians and political operatives far beyond Wisconsin will be watching closely, not just for what the recall effort may imply for other state’s leaders who are considering cuts to workers’ benefits and union powers as a way to solve budget problems, but also as a sign for the presidential race. Wisconsin was one of several pivotal Midwestern states that gave Barack Obama solid victories in 2008 but then elected Republicans, including Mr. Walker, in significant numbers in 2010. Money from outside the state is certain to pour in from both sides for the recall vote.

God Bless Scott Walker for doing his job! If all these states had issued recall elections after the 2008 election they would find out that Odumbo really didn't win! I hope they wake up this year and issue recalls because he will try to commit FRAUD again!
God Bless you Walker for doing your job!

Dems and unions are communists that will use whatever means to win . The people elected Walker , but the dems have no problem spending other peoples money to get their way . This is a battle that needs to be won . All they have is thuggary and BS to get their way . I see no difference between dems and islamic extremists , only the dems don't use guns , Oh wait , they have . Why not have a recall election for Obama ? I'm sure we could find the votes to make it happen .

If the people of Wisconsin have any brains they will reelect Scott Walker. I am tired of paying these clowns a better pay check than what I get, they don't work any harder as a matter a fact it takes two of them to do pbe mans job.
My husband and I moved from the state of WI in 2003 to a more conservative state like VA because the economy in WI is/was so bad.

I have bad feeling about this because they are counting Hitler and Mickey Mouse as voters.

It just goes to show you that most Americans know more about a football than they do about Government and the Good some (like Governor Walker) are trying to accomplish, how else could they get so many to sign! The People of Wisconsin elected Governor Walker into Office to reduce the States Budget....but then the Demo-Crazies took off and Ran to Illinois when the Governor suggested he would have to do some major cuts and make some pay their Fair Share in Health Care and other benefits!! What is wrong with those in Wisconsin...they voted Governor Walker in so the Unions could take away their votes or over turn their votes!! If this is the case why didn't they just let the UNIONS VOTE FOR THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE...and SAVE TIME and MONEY!! Now it's Costing Your State All This Recall Money...just to prove a point and power grab by the Unions...don't mess with us..if you do American People we'll force your Elected Officials to Spend Milliobns of Dollars to allow us a Recall petition!! It would have been cheaper for those in Wisconsin to just allow the UNIONS to VOTE For Them In The Future!!! In God I Trust!! Wake Up Wisconsin!!

Governor Walker Just have your police arrest all the union workers that are in your state that don,t even work in your state for vagrancy and inciting a riot, they should at least com from Wisconson, drivers licence or any other ID that they are from Wisconson, if not the only reason they are there is to cause trouble, gives reason enough for arrest.

In Democrat terms, Closely Watched, translates to "We will stuff the ballot boxes and wake the dead to insure the all get to
vote in the election. If they do not get a clear victory or if they lose they will whine, cry, scream and then go to one of their
special courts to get the results nullified. Then they will declare their candidate won and have the courts seat him in
the middle of the night in a very dark room before the citizens wake up. Typical democrat politics in the union corrupt
cities.

What's sad is that the economy is so much better now than then. With schools now being able to hire new teachers (unfortunately they will have to join unions and be corrupted by their degenerated leadership). The fact that things are much better for the people and the students, will not be a factor for Demoncrats or the unions. Its all about power to those simpletons.

Isn't it sad that a man like Scott Walker is villified for trying his best to save his state from financial ruin. This is more proof of unions run amok and willing to bankrupt a state to keep their pockets filled. They don't give a flying fig about the state or it's people. Unions will be the ruination of our country together with o'stupid.

I APPLAUD Governor Walkers' courage ..... and if the people of Wisconsin have any sense of what is right and what is wrong they will show up in massive numbers and defeat this selfish ,greedy and criminal effort designed to destroy free enterprise....

The article headline is not correct.......Walker took on the state financial fiasco left behind by the last Democrat governor.
Not the Unions. The unions who have milked the taxpayers in the state with the help of the Democrats, just got a dose of reallity. The re-call effort comes straight from the White House and the DNC with help of Obamas union goons. The vote to keep Walker comes down to,.....the salvation and preservation of America as we know it, or does it become the Marxist dream of the left and Obama.

Steve ..... The marxist dream does not include people such as ourselves ..... The pity is that these usefull idiots do not realize that it does not include them either ..... They are blinded by their greed and selfishness ..... God Help our free nation!

these union's are like baby's if they don't get what they want they start to stamp there feet and cry, they want to do just what they want to do and control the work place. they remind me of the longshoreman's union on the north east coast. they bled the ports of new york and jersey dry. the morel to this story is the shipping company's moved there operations to the SOUTH where they have a friendly work force that was very grateful to have the jobs and these company's sent the unloaded cargo and containers up by rail to inland rail yards that did not require these overpaid union people to unload these shipments and now most of these once busy ports are bone yards where tumble weeds are blowing across there once busy ports..

Right you are!! Luca ..... Any state in the union that has a right to work provision in its constitution will be a target for these thugs.... If we survive this economic downturn .... migration to these states will increase dramatically and all those waiting for someone else to go to work so they can sit on their asses will be out of luck .... They will realize that government has no money .... it takes mine and gives it to people like them.... a simple lesson in economics...
This is a very sad state of affairs ...... The will of the people in Wisconsin is being challenged by people who look to government for their living ..... These selfish dopes have no Idea that Government that pays them gets its money from productive people who go to work and produce goods and services in free and open market .... Unions raise costs while harboring non productive members thus causing businesses to either fail or move away .... If you are civil servant you are ward of the state and should not be allowed to vote my paycheck....

Walker and the republican party of Wisconsin have taken an aggressive jump on communicating the economic positives since the unions began their recall efforts. In the past 2 weeks I have received 3 pro-Walker mailings highlighting accomplishments. No union bashing trash mail yet!

As a WI resident we continue to fight the bias media. A month ago an article on the front page of the St.Paul Pioneer Press highlighted how difficult it was for a teacher to get a WI ID to use for voting (as required by change in voting criteria by the republican house, senate, and govenor). She drove 40 miles only to find out that she needed a certified birth certificate or passport. This teacher thought that she could use her electric bill or other insignificant papers to claim residence. My granddaughter 'borrowed' my WI drivers license to play with. Since I did not want to make a trip to the office in vain (1 mile from my house) to get a duplicate drivers license, I checked the state website. It took 2 minutes. What type of people are teaching our children?
1 reply · active 1 hour ago
Jane .... The type that need to be removed post haste ..... The masses are waking up and the desperation to maintain contol is very evident ... at all costs this bunch always tries to push issues into the court sytem where they have a sigificant presense..... If state legislaters petition the congress to bring into question rulings from the federal bench of any judge on a basis of constitutionality and how it applies there to .... we could remedy the problem of legislating from the bench .... which has been the primary instrument of destuction of our personnel liberties..
Unions have long outlived their reason for being...............there are OSHA regulations for the workplace and minimum wage laws. Unions exist today solely for the purpose of enriching their own leaders.

To answer the questions about what type of people are teaching our children..............my daughter blind copied me an email exchange she had with my 6th grade grandson's teacher. The teacher's email was rife with grammatical AND spelling errors and the email exchange was about my grandson's grade in ENGLISH!!

When Scott Walker ran for the office of Govenor of Wisconsin, his campaign pledged to reduce the state deficit without raising taxes. At the time, no one asked how he was going to pull it off (or didn't care), but he had this collective bargaining thing in his plan the whole time. He won his election by a safe margin and did what he said he was going to do. And the unions are upset now? I don't belong to any of the unions affected by his actions. I have been paying a portion of my health care and saving a portion of my paycheck for my retirement for all of my working years. I will probably still be working in a job into my seventies. So when we force the union employees to do what everyone else in the state has been doing all along, they retaliate and say it isn't fair? I wish I could have my whole summer off from work. I wish I could have started my job as a inexperienced employee at $50K a year. I've been in design and engineering jobs for almost thirty years and I still don't gross $50K a year but I'm not complaining about my lifestyle. I pay my fair share to make our state economy run. I just wish the union employess saw it that way.

So is this what every governor, every state rep. or state senator votes in a law or program that the unions don't like they're going to try to recall the person.I don't remember too many recalls to dems. for making bad laws or program.
If the people in Wisconsin are too stupid to realize what good Gov Walker has brought to their state, then they deserve what they get. Many other governors are doing the same thing and here in Ohio, Kasich may not be totally popular, but he has improved the state, balancing the budget and I think in time, the people in Ohio will realize they have a great governor.

The problem is these Union Thugs have so many billions and they hit the 47% population on Government welfare or Government jobs saying they'll lose it all if they don't recall Scott Walker...they lie and make up stuff that isn't true, not realizing that once the Government is broke by not creating new tax payer jobs none of them will get anything! Just a matter of time! Wake up zombies! You don't get a Government check if the tax payers go on welfare too! Once there are no jobs, we are all slaves to Government at their beck and call!

As Thomas Jefferson said,
“When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.”

Hear ye, Hear ye, Hear ye.
To use the quote “ Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their Country”, State, City and neighborhood should be added. In order to form a more perfect Union we must band together to hold our beloved Constitution safe from all enemies foreign and domestic.
Will you help, will you stand and will you share?
The fight will be huge. The cost will be great. The rewards will be freedom.
We need a State-by-State league joined at the hips to protect the US Constitution. I propose this be the start of The Arizona League.
I’m open for input and or information.

Respond, as you will.
