Dear Arizona Taxpayer:
Arizona faces some very important questions in its centennial year:
● Will Arizona's congressional delegation stand firm against job-killing regulatory assaults by the Obama Administration?
● Will Arizona's congressional delegation vote to defuse America's ticking bankruptcy bomb and ensure a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren?
● Will the Arizona Legislature finally vote for a strong spending limit, and stop the boom-and-bust cycle of overspending and deep deficits?
● Will Governor Brewer and the Legislature succumb to the temptation to spend "surplus" revenues? (There is no surplus. See the quote from Americans for Prosperity in the Arizona Republic's recent story on the state budget.)
● Will the Legislature stop Governor Brewer and the Arizona insurance lobby from setting up an ObamaCare insurance exchange in Arizona?
● Will the Legislature and Governor help more children escape from failing schools by expanding school choice? (Mark your calendars: AFP-Arizona will co-host a School Choice Week event with the Arizona School Choice Trust on Sunday evening, January 22.)
● Will Arizona pass Truth-in-Spending legislation to ensure transparency and encourage taxpayer input in the budget process?
● Will Arizona save cities money and empower local taxpayers by consolidating elections in November of even-numbered years?
The answers to those questions largely depend on YOU, and whether you continue to be active in promoting freedom and economic growth in Arizona. 2011 was a strong year for grassroots activism, turning Tea Party enthusiasm into solid legislative victories on fiscal policy issues. But we have a long way to go.
As AFP-Arizona explains in its op-ed in the Sunday Republic, Arizona has the potential to become a free-market economic powerhouse in the global economy. But we're going to have to make major reforms to get there. To get us started, AFP-Arizona and its coalition partners are pushing a bold policy agenda in 2012.
One last thought before we close out 2011 and start up 2012... Please invest financially in the success of the Arizona chapter of Americans for Prosperity. We ask all AFP-Arizona members to invest at least $10 a year in our efforts, but the more you invest, the more we can accomplish together! To invest, go to www.aztaxpayers.org and click onContribute.
For Liberty, Tom
